Red tartan is a signature winter pattern, as well as a Christmas one, so although Christmas is still far away, I’ve been enjoying wearing it this winter in the form of this new vintage dress!
I love its military style button-up panel, black velvet collar and cuffs, and its nice long, wintry length.
It’s a perfect match for my military style coat with the gothic lace-up back. I bought this beautiful gem of a coat on Ebay a couple of years ago. I still love it and wear it on days I want to look a bit more gothic in winter.
Both my boots and my belt add to the militaresque look of this outfit.
I got the dress from a fashionable vintage selling chick at the new Footscray Finds trash and treasure market happening once a month on Paisley Street here in Footscray. It is the best thing to happen to Footscray since the Rev opened here a few years ago (best place to get cheap vegan Mexican food and beer every Tuesday night)!
The next one is this Sunday, July 16.
I will be back there, looking for new vintage wear and chatting with the locals. I had wanted to have a stall there but I’ve just taken on two new clients and am a bit too busy right now. But I have sooooo much stuff I am selling and getting rid of before I pack my life into storage for a few years in January!
I’ve been very proud of myself this year for not buying anything I would have to put into storage next year, continuing to downsize, and staying focused on earning more and spending less.
I am designing my future life to be about experiences, not things, at least for a few years until I’m ready to settle down again.
